Can Coll Environmental Education Centre

Located in an old 15th-century farmhouse, Can Coll Environmental Education Centre fosters links between the park and schools, covering infant (3-6 years), primary (6-12) and secondary (12-16) education. The centre also organises programmes aimed at education science students and working teachers. Special schools also receive preferential treatment, with programmes designed specifically for them.

The activities, which each last one full day, focus on knowledge about specific subjects. For example, infant school visitors may carry out an activity on the natural environment, farming or the woods, whilst older schoolchildren learn about vegetation, fauna, geography, history or the rural world. Teachers and professors prepare these activities at a meeting with educators at Can Coll. Registration for them begins on the first working day in September.

On Sundays, the centre opens to the public from 9.30 am to 14.30 pm (closed from June 24 to September 1, on Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, Epiphany and Easter Sunday). Visitors see the interior of the farmhouse, see the exhibition “Man and the Environment in Collserola” and the Park audiovisuals, follow the signposted routes around the area and, from 1 pm to 1.30 pm, go around the farm itself. From 10.30 am to 1.30 pm, from November till last winter sunday, moreover, visitors can also observe hibernating birds from the “Feixa dels Ocells” site.
