The Government of Catalonia, which has exclusive powers to regulate hunting, establishing what species can be hunted and the dates of the hunting season, approves technical management plans for APC private hunting areas and authorises wild boar hunts and all other hunting activities.

Since the Park was first established, efforts have been made to secure restrictive hunting regulations within its boundaries in order to ensure the conservation of its fauna and to prevent risk and conflict situations with both residents and park users, whose numbers are constantly rising.

Wild boar is the only big game hunting species found in Collserola. From the late-1980s, the numbers of wild boar caught in the Park rose steadily, though the population has now stabilised to a certain extent. The small fluctuations that still occur are related to variations in the amount of food available for this species in the woods. This indicates that the wild boar population of Collserola follows the same ecological patterns as populations living in wilder environments.
